The Legend of Da Hong Pao:
The name "Big Red Robe" is rooted in ancient legends of healing and gratitude.

  • The Scholar's Tale: A scholar suffering from severe abdominal pain while traveling to his imperial exams found relief after drinking tea brewed by a monk at Tianxin Temple in Wuyi Mountain. Restored to health, he passed the exams with flying colors and returned to drape his red robe over the tea trees in gratitude, bestowing upon them the name Da Hong Pao.

  • The Empress's Story: During the Ming Dynasty, the Empress fell gravely ill, and no physician could cure her. A brew made from the tea leaves of Wuyi’s cliffside tea trees miraculously restored her health. The Emperor, in awe, gifted the tea trees with red silk robes.

Da Hong Pao is not just a tea; it’s a symbol of healing, tradition, and legend, treasured as one of the most famous and revered teas in China.
