Brewing Method
Steeped in history and tradition, Wenshan Pouchong Tea represents the pinnacle of Taiwan’s lightly fermented oolongs. Originating in the Wenshan District, this tea’s story begins in 1881 when the innovative Pouchong production method was introduced by Wu Fulao, evolving over decades to the refined craft we know today. The tea owes its name to its traditional wrapping process, where leaves were enclosed in square Chinese writing paper, giving rise to the term “pouchong,” meaning “wrapped chong.”

Crafted using the Chin-Shin-Oolong cultivar or TTES No.12, Wenshan Pouchong is celebrated for its strip-shaped leaves and focus on fragrance. Produced in the lush tea-growing regions of New Taipei City and Taipei City, it embodies Taiwan’s legacy of excellence in oolong tea.
Aroma:
An elegant floral bouquet that wafts into the nostrils, with notes of fresh orchids and light gardenia, leaving a lasting impression of refinement and grace.
Flavor Profile:
Smooth and full-bodied with a naturally sweet, mellow taste and a brisk, refreshing finish. The honey-yellow liquor carries a vibrant flavor that balances sweetness with subtle vegetal undertones, leaving a clean and lingering aftertaste.
Appearance:
The leaves are tightly curled, neat, and glossy with a deep black-green color. When brewed, the liquor shines with a honey-yellow and green tint, exuding clarity and brilliance.
Story and Tradition:
Wenshan Pouchong Tea is rooted in Taiwan’s tea heritage, with its production methods refined during Japanese rule to become one of the island’s most beloved teas. Its hallmark lies in its five major characteristics: fragrance, fullness, boldness, aftertaste, and fineness. These elements combine to create a sensory journey that is both invigorating and elegant.
Indulge in the rich heritage and fragrant elegance of Taiwan’s finest Wenshan Pouchong Tea.
